Welcome to Port Melbourne Football Club

The Port Melbourne Football Club’s inaugural playing list for season 2021 of VFLW is nearing completion as we officially welcome experienced tall Abbey Tanner as our latest signing.

At 25 years of age, Tanner joins the Borough with an impressive array of experience under her belt; starting from when she first started playing football 11 years ago with the Whitehorse Colts – who remain to this day as her nominated local ‘home’ club.

Over the last few years, Tanner has chalked up 40 games of VFLW football with the Eastern Devils and more recently, Hawthorn.

Tanner has played the majority of her football as a ruck, and was also a member of the 2015 State Academy.

Port Football Manager Glenn Balmforth was understandably excited by the acquisition of Tanner.

“We consider ourselves very fortunate to add somebody of Abbey’s character at our club,” he said.

“She is very bubbly and always creates an enjoyable and positive vibe amongst the group.

Balmforth said a player of Tanner’s experience, personality and quality would be represent a significant coup just a couple of weeks out from Round 1.

“Her determination and want to get the best out of both herself and the group will play a massive role in building the culture here moving forward.”

The Port Melbourne Football Club welcomes Abbey to the Borough family, and wish her all the best for what’s to come!
